Florida Butterfly Farm Internship or Seminar Lodging Choices
Shady Oak Butterfly Farm
We have a large home near the butterfly farm and enjoy sharing our home with interns at no additional charge. We would love for you to be able to stay in our guestroom. We do not charge for you to stay in **our home but we do not guarantee that a spare room is always available. Please contact us in advance for availability. (Read below for more information.)

Should you stay in a hotel/motel you will incur that expense yourself. We do not provide hotel housing.

We highly recommend Paula's and Freeman's Bed and Breakfast; Hampton Inn Bed and Breakfast. Reservations should be made early! Only nine miles from our farm, you'll enjoy your stay on Hampton Lake. (We used to live next to Paula and Freeman on Hampton Lake.) We will provide transportation to and from the Bed and Breakfast or a Starke hotel during week-long internships.

Several older hotels are located in Starke, about 20 minutes from the house.
Best Western has been reported as a clean hotel.

**If you stay in our home when our guestroom is available, please read this.

Our home is our 'castle'. We are a big and loving family. We treat our guests with respect and ask our guests respect our quiet ways. (We do not allow immodest dress, indoor smoking, sharing of a bed by an unmarried couple, and such. Although we do not allow alcohol at the farm or in our house, we do not personally object to alcohol consumption and our guests often drink alcohol when we are eat in a restaurant.)

Stephen and I live alone in the home (with our 16 year old cat) so the house is quiet most of the time. We do have a large close family and we enjoy having our children pop in from time to time with the grandbabies. We love for our guests to feel at home and enjoy our family with us.

You do have the privacy of your own room with a semi/private bath. (Two guest rooms share one bath.)

We do have wireless internet in the house and at the farm.

We do not have a TV in our home or at the farm. We keep up with the news in the world via internet and radio.
