The Eastern Black Swallowtail Butterfly Papilio polyxenes is found in most of the United States. This butterfly is also known as the American Swallowtail. Fennel, parsley, dill, Queen Anne's Lace, Water Hemlock, Mock Bishop's Weed, Carrots, and many plants in the carrot family are used by these butterflies as a larval food plant. Eastern Black Swallowtails (and Giant Swallowtails) use Rue as a host plant. |
