Parasitoid inside a caterpillar on an oak tree. |
|
We thought we found a new caterpillar on an oak tree. After taking photos and downloading them onto the computer, we realized that it was full of parasitoid larvae. The larvae turned into pupae inside the caterpillar. After looking at it with the understanding that it has zero guts. All its insides are eaten by the parasitoids. We wonder if it is the Spiny Oakworm Slug. BUT we did have one Spiny Oakworm Slug that was parasitized by brachnoid wasps that kept its color. |
